The mock COP26 day was phenomenal! It was filled with well – stated solutions to problems and was a great opportunity for students to research flaws in their country that they wanted to improve. Not only did Eaton Grange do COP26 related activities, but so did the rest of the school!
From the COP26 day, I learnt that it is possible to teach people as young as 5 about Climate issues. I found out that if each country participated in trying to make the world a more sustainable and eco – friendly place, we could reduce climate change and save the planet.
‘There is no planet B’ is a quote commonly stated. Even though Mars is the most alike planet to Earth, it still doesn’t have the basic necessities a human needs such as water. Water is not available on Mars and because of this humans will die of dehydration.
The children in Prep and Pre – Prep did activities based on climate change. Year 6’s talked about how toilets affect the climate whereas year 1’s made a sea of water with rocks and other items and had a boat filled with oil. Once they tipped the oil into the water, they could see how it made a change to the water.
The structure of the day was great. If there were a few more exciting activities for pupils to do, they could have enhanced their understanding of what they were being taught.
Overall, the COP26 day was a great learning experience. Everyone enjoyed the activities and appreciated it.
