At the start of the day, Eaton Grange tuned into a zoom video to introduce what all the countries were going to partake in.
There were pledges and donations being made between countries. A lot of money has been offered and clarifications made, China has offered very generous amounts of money to countries in need. Bhutan has also offered to make alliances with countries to plant trees. India has offered solar panels to all the nations in need of more renewable energy.
The martial Islands have been offered a lot of money to rebuild flood barriers by Kenya and Canada. A 10 million dollar donation from Russia and Japan has also been made to the Martial Islands to go towards more flood barriers. The Martial Islands have been generous to offer a trade of hydroelectric power as they can easily gain wave power.
Saudi Arabia is going to try to shift some of their energy to be renewably sources by 2030 and again India has offered solar panels to aid this plan. India has said that they will keep their generous offers up after being questioned because they believe it is ‘important to tackle the climate crisis’. Nations have asked how much Saudi Arabia are prepared to commit as their generous offers seem to be out of reach, their response was that stopping climate change is their number one priority.
All of Eaton Grange were off of timetable today, they enjoyed all kinds of activities such as cooking biscuits with cricket flour and tasting them. Some responses we got were positive and some even said that they tasted better than normal cookies! Another activity that was going on was when students made aerodynamic cars out of old cereal boxes, this got everyone understanding how important it is to reuse materials. Making models of slums for a family was a well-liked activity along with the job of planting bulbs to encourage sustainable living.
